Most Heights long-distance moves land in Austin (job relocations for younger renters) or the DFW metroplex. We run our own trucks on both of those Texas routes weekly.
Our Heights long-distance quotes are binding — you get one number that includes fuel surcharge, transit protection, and delivery window, not a lowball estimate that grows on delivery day. USDOT number on every quote and every truck.
What Makes Long Distance Moving Different
A Heights job that clears 100 miles is still regulated by the state as long as it stays in Texas, and the mover needs a household goods certificate from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. We hold one, and every truck rolling out of the 11th Street yard runs under it. Crossing the state line is a different matter: that takes federal FMCSA operating authority, and we do not carry it.
Rather than clocking the hour, the long-haul quote is a binding number keyed to the inventoried weight and the mileage tender. That structure eliminates the classic bait-and-jack of a lowball estimate that balloons at the destination gate.
A dedicated move coordinator gets attached to your file at booking and stays on the line from pickup through drop. They track truck position, update your delivery window daily, and route the driver through any building-access wrinkles at the destination.
Planning Your Long Distance Move
Nothing matters more than a clean, room-by-room inventory. The estimator walks the house tagging every piece with a weight class, flagging antiques, artwork, oversized appliances, and glass or marble tops for specialty crates.
Professional pack is standard on any Heights long-haul booking. Case goods land in blankets and stretch wrap; cartons get contents-tight fills so nothing rattles on the run to Dallas or Austin. Loose-packed cartons drive the vast majority of long distance claims (the pack matters).
Pickup and delivery windows lock in at contract signing. Texas destinations get a 1-to-3-day spread, depending on the lane and the driver's HOS clock.
Full-Value Coverage and Claims
The default released value rate pays out at just $0.60 per pound per article. A one-pound remote control gets 60 cents. Full-value replacement coverage, offered as an upsell at booking, pays actual replacement cost on every declared item rather than the pennies-per-pound floor.
When a claim gets filed, it's adjudicated in-house rather than pushed off to a third-party claims desk. Resolution runs 30 days from the day the paperwork lands on the coordinator's desk.
Bungalow Downsizes to Austin and DFW via I-45 Northbound
Long-haul departures from this ZIP cluster usually stage out of downsizing bungalow moves — 1,200 to 1,800 tagged pieces after decades in a Woodland Heights or Sunset Heights house, headed for Austin's East Side or a DFW infill. We route the loaded truck up Airline Drive to I-45 north before 6:30 AM to skip downtown-commuter congestion on the North Loop. Delivery windows on Austin runs land next business day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are you licensed for moves outside Texas?
No. We are licensed for household moves that begin and end in Texas, under TxDMV certificate #009932014C and USDOT #2479437. A move to another state needs a carrier with federal FMCSA authority, which we do not hold.
What is a binding estimate?
A binding estimate locks in your price based on the weight of your shipment and distance. Unlike non-binding estimates, the final price cannot exceed the binding amount — even if your shipment weighs more than estimated.
How long does a long distance move take?
In-state Texas moves typically deliver in 1–3 business days, depending on how far the new home is from the Heights. We give you a delivery window at booking.
How much does long distance moving cost from Heights?
Long distance moves from Heights are priced by weight and mileage. A two-bedroom home move to Dallas typically runs $1,800–$2,800. Call (346) 853-7110 for a binding estimate.
