A binding estimate locks the price in advance based on your inventory. A non binding estimate is based on actual weight or hours and can move up or down. Ask which one you are being given before you sign anything.
Keep medications, important documents, jewelry, and a change of clothes with you. It is also smart to photograph electronics and valuables before the crew wraps them.
For interstate moves, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration takes complaints. For moves inside Texas, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles handles household goods carrier complaints.
Tipping is not required but is appreciated for a job well done. Many clients tip twenty to fifty dollars per mover depending on the size and difficulty of the job.
